Euro zone government bond yields extend rise after U.S. data
Germany’s 10-year bond yield, the benchmark for the bloc, was last up 5 basis points (bps) at 2.93% by 1315 GMT, below the 12-year high of 3.024% reached on Wednesday.
The yield, which rises as the bond’s price falls, was on track for its fifth straight weekly gain despite falling for the last two sessions.
U.S. Treasury yields jumped on Friday, with the 10-year yield up 14 bps at 4.86%, after data showed that employers added 336,000 jobs in September, well above the 170,000 that was expected by economists.

US stocks fall at open after jobs data; Treasury yields spike
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 78.87 points, or 0.24%, at the open to 33,040.70.
The S&P 500 opened lower by 23.40 points, or 0.55%, at 4,234.79, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 92.16 points, or 0.70%, to 13,127.68 at the opening bell.

India’s forex reserves drop $3.79 bn to $586.91 bn
It can be noted that in October 2021, the country’s forex kitty had reached an all-time high of USD 645 billion. The reserves took a hit as the central bank deployed the kitty to defend the rupee amid pressures caused majorly by global developments since last year.
For the week ended September 29, the foreign currency assets, a major component of the reserves, decreased by USD 3.127 billion to USD 520.236 billion, according to the Weekly Statistical Supplement released by the RBI.

Treasury yields jump after US jobs report
US Treasury yields jumped on Friday after data showed that employers added 336,000 jobs in September, well above the 170,000 that was expected by economists. Benchmark 10-year notes rose to 4.84%, from around 4.75% before the data was released. They reached 4.884% on Wednesday, the highest since 2007. Two-year notes rose to 5.14%, from around 5.06% before the data. They are holding below the 5.202% level hit on Sept. 21, which was the highest since July 2006. The closely watched yield curve between two- and 10-year notes was little changed at minus 30 basis points.

RBI MPC: The wait for interest rate bears just got longer
“While major central banks are signalling a peaking of their rate hike cycle, there are indications that the tight monetary policy stance could persist for longer than anticipated earlier,” RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said in his monetary policy statement.
While keeping the repo rate unchanged at 6.5%, he said the transmission of the 250 basis points (bps) increase in the policy repo rate to bank lending and deposit rates is still incomplete and hence the MPC decided to remain focused on withdrawal of accommodation.

Oil prices hold steady, Russia rolls back diesel export ban
On Friday, Brent futures were down 11 cents, or 0.13%, at $83.96 at 1203 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures were down 13 cents, or 0.16%, at $82.18.
Russia announced on Friday that it had lifted its ban on diesel exports for supplies delivered to ports by pipeline, under the proviso that companies sell at least 50% of their diesel production to the domestic market.

Investors hope US job numbers give Fed less reason to hike
U.S. stock futures were about 0.25% firmer ahead of the jobs figures due at 1230 GMT.
The dollar, slightly firmer, was heading for a 12-week winning streak after hitting its best level in about 11 months earlier in the week. The euro, meanwhile, was heading for a record 12th week of declines against the dollar.

Rupee closes flat, notches second weekly loss in a row
The local currency posted a weekly loss of 0.23%, closing at 83.2450 against the U.S. dollar and little changed from its close of 83.25 in the previous session.
The rupee was in a narrow range for much of the day’s trading session after the Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy decision did not provide any fresh cues to the currency, analysts said.

Tech View: Nifty may show resistance at 19,800. What traders should do next week
Nifty on Friday ended 108 points higher to form a bullish Doji candle on the daily chart while on the weekly scale a Dragonfly Doji pattern was noticed. The short-term trend of Nifty has turned positive. The overall positive chart pattern indicates next overhead resistance for the Nifty around 19800 levels for the coming week. Any dip down to 19550-19500 levels could be a buying opportunity, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

Gold pauses decline as investors hold breath for US payrolls report
Spot gold was flat at $1,819.52 per ounce by 0736 GMT, and was on track to log a second consecutive weekly loss, shedding 1.6% so far. U.S. gold futures firmed 0.1% to $1,833.20.
Benchmark U.S. 10-year bond yields pulled back from a 16-year peak and the U.S. dollar was off November 2022 highs but remained on track for 12 straight weeks of gains.

Paracetamol maker Valiant Laboratories lists at 16% premium
On BSE, the stock was listed at Rs 161, a premium of 15% or Rs 21 compared with the issue price. Ahead of the listing, the company’s shares got a premium of Rs 22 in the unlisted market.
The RBI had overlooked data in the early aftermath of COVID since the aim was to stimulate the economy & engineer a turn-around. Since changing its stance last year, the RBI has been data driven. According to the RBI’s inflation prediction for Q3 & this FY, today’s policy outcome is not surprising. We expect the RBI to retain the status quo unless we see a durable drop in inflation and if steady economic activity continues.
